Dear Friends of Interages:

Interages had an incredible year!  This would not have been possible without our excellent staff, dedicated volunteers, supportive Board of Directors, our local government, Montgomery County Public Schools, foundations, individual contributors, and corporations.  Thank you all so much! Your continued help has given us the ability to serve more county residents.  This year, 187 older adult (age 50 plus) volunteers tutored and/or mentored 391 students.  During this same time, 294 students from public and private schools visited 252 frail and elderly adults in nursing homes and assisted living facilities.  Our volunteers donated thousands of hours totaling the equivalent of $112,553 of in-kind support. Altogether, Interages offered programs at 42 sites throughout Montgomery County, Maryland.

Your strong support has helped make it possible for Interages’ programs to receive two important recognitions this year.  Interages was chosen by the 2007-2008 Catalogue for Philanthropy as one of the “Best Small Charities in the Greater Washington Area.”  We were selected for this recognition based on "excellence, innovation, and cost-effectiveness."  In addition, Interages was one of only three organizations selected nationally by the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging (n4a) and the MetLife Foundation for an "Award of Excellence in Older Volunteer Program Management."  We were selected for excellent practices in recruitment, orientation, training, retention and recognition of older volunteers.  Interages was included in the n4a’s “Promising Practices Guide” so others will learn from our successful strategies.

I am delighted to share our 2007-2008 Program Report with you.  This report provides details on our participants,

activities, major accomplishments, challenges and summary evaluations of individual programs.  Our reporting and evaluation process provides valuable insight into what we are doing right and what we may need to improve or change in the future.

Please review this year’s report and feel free to contact me with any questions or suggestions.  Your continued support for Interages is greatly appreciated.

Warmest Regards

Carol Croll
